From Asia with Love
31.03. – 23.04.2011
Pictures of overcrowded, sprawling mega-cities and economical reports are increasingly overshadowing the true beauty of the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Ravishing charm, cultural diversity and exotic ancient civilization take a backseat. A prima facie case of globalization movement.
The Berlin based artists Alexander von Agoston and Rinaldo Hopf, both polyglot backpackers, travelled independently to India and Asia for many years. Both artists preserve their sovereign view of the native and cultural aspects from fascinating social spheres, its people and landscapes.
Unlike the ‚common‘ traveller returning with a slideshow, these globe trotting artists come back with sketchbooks full of impressions, colourful watercolours and paintings, spiced up with a vigorous shot of erotica, which we have the pleasure to exhibit for the first time.
We exhibited artwork by both artists at the Kunstbehandlung in solo exhibitions in previous years.
Both artists will be present at the opening of the show on 31.03.011 from 8 pm onwards.
